Water :
Planning and implementation of remedial measures for villages in the Sahyadri mountain ranges in accordance with the concept of watershed development (Ridge to valley approach) wells for drinking water and protective irrigation. A large scale ‘watershed development programme’ over 5000 hectare area in 11 villages with people’s participation and with the assistance of Central government. Completion of 11 earthern dams, 10 cement bunds and 50 farm ponds.
Solar Energy :
Promotion of solar lanterns for use in hamlets in hilly areas deprived of the government electricity supply. Spreading solar lights usage in Marathwada and tribal regions of Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh through sister NGOs.
Forest Resources- Medicinal plants, Bamboo
21st century is termed as “Century of Knowledge due to emergence of knowledge-based industry”. Biotechnology (BT) is next to Information Technology (IT) which is going to revolutionize the global scenario.
JP’s Ratilal Bhgavandas Department of Biotechnology was established in year 2000-2001 at JP’s Nigdi centre. It was the first attempt in India to provide handson training in plant tissue culture to school going students. Over a period of last two decades, the BT department has evolved and grownup into full-fledged research and extension centre. Since then, This department has been working on various projects and activities
  • Provide need-based capacity building training, field demonstrations, awareness building programs to various stakeholders from rural and urban area such as students, farmers and SHG members
  • Applied research in field of Plant tissue culture
  • Hands-on training in plan tissue culture
This movement of Green Environmentalism initiated number of projects in agriculture and agroforestry. Some of them are Community Training, Demonstration in Sustainable Agriculture with Department of Biotechnology (DBT) in 2004-08, Standardization of protocols for Stevia based products with Department of Science and Technology (DST) in year 2008-12, Developed and commercialized micropropagation protocol for patented variety of stevia for Sunfruits Ltd. Pune in year 2012-14, Protocol Development for commercially useful bamboos, Extension Efforts in Bamboo Cultivation and Processing along with ATMA, MBDB, MBPF since 2014. Developed and commercialized micropropagation protocols for six commercially useful varieties of bamboo species with Kala Biotech Pvt. Ltd. Capacity building program of SHGs on Medicinal plants supported by State Medicinal Plant board under 365 days campaign on medicinal plants by NMPB in 2017-18
