A comprehensive long term development programme of 137 villages from the Shivaganga and Gunjawani river valleys in Pune district. All round development of the rural territory has been an important aspect of Prabodhini’s work. Central to this has been the water related work. Development of the watershed area includes developing earthen and cement bunds, man made lakes and streams, ‘reliable & safe’ drinking water project based on water related literacy, ‘Pavanayi Utsav’ which attracts attention to the pollution of rivers are some of the important projects. Solar power lights in the localities of the hilly areas, various experiments of solar-bio-wind energy have been supplemented with the training for solar panels and solar powered light arrangements. Prabodhini has been training the rural youth for various skills like lathe machine operator, CNC machine operator, livelihood training for forest dwellers, modern techniques for agriculture, farming with better understanding, and developing the ability to explain various new experiments. Special value is given to Organic farming, seed production, and bamboo cultivation, training for such farming are also conducted. Prabodhini strives to train and build exemplary works with those who are inspired to develop their territory beyond their own personal upliftment.
